General Interest:
Efficient Implementation of Mathematically Rich Algorithms
Identify and exploit degrees of freedom to arrive at a better implementation of mathematically rich algorithms (in particular video processing, digital signal processing, and machine learning algorithms).
Current Research :
Efficient Implementation of Low Density Parity Check Codes
Researching a class of LDPC codes (a form of error correcting code) to analyze error correction accuracy vs. hardware efficiency. The goal is to arrive at a more efficient hardware implementation (lower power, lower area, higher speed) while maintaining high error resilience.
Efficient Implementation of Low Density Parity Check Codes
We are researching a class of LDPC codes (a form of error correcting code) to analyze error correction accuracy vs. hardware efficiency. The goal is to arrive at a more efficient hardware implementation (lower area, higher speed) on an FPGA while maintaining high error resilience. In order to meet this goal, we are developing a system to automatically generate verilog code given an LDPC code and other design parameters as input. The verilog code corresponding to each LDPC code and design paramaters will then be mapped onto an FPGA to determine speed and area. We then intend to use this system to intelligently explore LDPC codes and design parameters. |
